The Blueskilling Innovation Project is a partnership between the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) based in Ringaskiddy, Cork Harbour, and the Munster Technological University (MTU).

Funding for the innovation training project is through the Atlantic Area INTERREG programme, which began in November 2023 and will run for the next three years.

The project is committed to empowering individuals with essential skills to drive blue innovation and enhance industrial competitiveness. In addition to expediting the implementation of marine renewables and green navigation technology across the Atlantic Area.

Such goals of the project will be achieved through the development of specialized training courses tailored to the maritime industry, offshore sectors, and shipbuilding.

This will involve the Basque Maritime Cluster (FMV) to lead the aims of the project to elevate workforce qualifications across the Atlantic region.

Over the course of the three-year project, nine partners from France, Portugal, Spain, and Ireland will collaborate to develop specialised training courses, spanning vocational and higher education, to empower workers in these three pivotal sectors.

Partners of the project are currently looking for your assistance by completing their survey questionaire through this link.

The NMCI is responsible for focusing on the Irish region while other partners are to focus on their national regions.

Feedback from the survey is to help identify the skills needs and GAPs to meet the requirements of companies and research and innovation actors in the maritime and marine renewable energy (MRE) sector.
