Helm of Hope: Kerryman Stephen Fitzpatrick, who helped spearhead Oceans of Hope in Ireland, says sailing transformed his life with MS and supports the programme’s Irish initiative

MS Ireland and Oceans of Hope are due to release their new sailing programme for 2026 at a webinar on Thursday (March 12).

As Afloat has previously reported, Oceans of Hope was established by Robert Munns with Nicola Kaufman in 2016, and a branch was initiated in Ireland.

The Irish branch was spearheaded by Kerryman, Stephen Fitzpatrick, who has sailed throughout Europe and Ireland with Oceans of Hope.

Fitzpatrick has said the experience transformed his life by spending time at sea.

The webinar will involve him and also Robert Munns, chief executive of Oceans of Hope Challenge, who will talk about the benefits of this initiative.

The webinar on Thursday March 12 from 3pm will give detail on the venues, dates and how to apply for the initiative.
