The Irish Coast Guard responded to 2,793 incidents in 2025, including search and rescue, medical evacuations, and pollution control.
A total of 1,941 people received critical assistance, either through life-saving interventions or medical support.
Coast Guard Units were deployed 1,187 times nationwide. Helicopters conducted 933 missions, including 190 air ambulance flights for island communities.
RNLI lifeboats launched 798 times, while the community inshore rescue service was activated 121 times.
The Coast Guard expanded its aviation capabilities with new AW189 helicopters operating from Shannon, Dublin, and Sligo. Fixed-wing operations launched from Shannon in September.
"This expansion ensures faster, more effective responses across Ireland," said Joanna Cullen, Assistant Secretary General at the Department of Transport.
Cullen added: "2025 truly tested our resilience. The extreme weather required rapid, coordinated action. Our teams rose to the challenge."
The upgraded fleet and increased operational capacity were critical during severe weather events throughout the year.
Enhanced collaboration with Principal Response Agencies supported communities facing flooding, coastal emergencies, and other crises.
