Supporters of Youghal RNLI Lifeboat are being invited to Ardmore this Thursday for a fundraising quiz night at The Urchin Bar. The event takes place on 25 June, with registration from 7 pm and the first questions scheduled for 7.30 pm sharp.

Teams of four can enter for €40, with all proceeds going towards supporting the lifesaving work of the volunteer crew at Youghal RNLI. Organisers are encouraging local residents, sailors, anglers and visitors to take part in what promises to be an enjoyable evening of friendly competition.

A raffle will also be held on the night, offering additional opportunities to contribute to the fundraising effort.

Youghal RNLI provides an essential search-and-rescue service along the East Cork and West Waterford coastlines, responding to emergencies at sea throughout the year. The quiz night aims to raise funds and awareness for the station while bringing the local community together in support of its volunteers.

Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) in Ireland Information

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is a charity to save lives at sea in the waters of UK and Ireland. Funded principally by legacies and donations, the RNLI operates a fleet of lifeboats, crewed by volunteers, based at a range of coastal and inland waters stations. Spending almost 50 hours at sea, the lifeboat stood by the drifting lightship until the proximity to the Daunt Rock forced the coxswain to get alongside and successfully rescue the lightship's crew.

32 Irish lifeboat crew have been lost in rescue missions, including the 15 crew of the Kingstown (now Dun Laoghaire) lifeboat which capsized while attempting to rescue the crew of the SS Palme on Christmas Eve 1895.
