Kilmore Quay RNLI launched on Sunday morning (August 10th) to assist three people after their boat’s engine failed south of the Saltee Islands, off the county Wexford coast.
The Coast Guard requested help at 9.30 am. The volunteer crew of the all-weather Tamar class lifeboat, Killarney, launched immediately.
The anglers were near the Brandies rocks, about 1.5 nautical miles from the islands. The lifeboat reached them at 9.50 am.
Sea conditions were slight, with a cloudy sky and a light south-westerly breeze. The wind was Force 1-2.
RNLI crew checked all on board were safe. They decided that towing the vessel to Kilmore Quay was the safest option.
The lifeboat arrived back at 10.45 am. The boat was secured alongside the slipway, and the lifeboat was made ready for service.
