The Department of Transport has warned of a potential risk to a type of lifejacket which has been recalled by sports retailer Decathlon.

The recall relates to the TRIBORD lifejacket LJ150N harness in grey and black, sold online and by Decathlon between March 1st 2025 and June 10th 2025.

The model code is 8801769 and article code is 4855900, Decathlon says in a notice on its website.

It advises anyone who has purchased this type of lifejacket to stop using it immediately and return it as soon as possible to their nearest Decathlon store where a full refund will be given.

Decathlon published the product recall over a month ago on June 19th, 2025, on its website.

The Department of Transport notice issued yesterday says the risk reported to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is drowning.

Repeated impacts on the product could pierce the fabric and result in “reduced buoyancy”.

The European Commission says the product does not comply with European standards under the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (PPE).

Decathlon has published further details for customers who may have purchased the above product at this link
