ISORA Series leader Coquine, the Belfast Lough water-ballasted JPK1030, is the latest addition to next week's 2024 Volvo Cork Week Class 1 competition.

The yacht is one of several late entries into the 120-boat biennial Cork Harbour regatta, which begins on Monday (July 15).

As regular Afloat readers will know, Coquine is part of a quality 20-boat ISORA/SCORA fleet assembling in Dun Laoghaire on Thursday for Friday's 11 a.m. start to the K2Q Race from Dublin to Cork before next week's regatta.

Royal Cork defending champion of this race, Nieulargo, has arrived in Dun Laoghaire Harbour and is alongside at the Royal Irish Yacht Club, as is the Cove Sailing Club classic, Imp.

Coquine, which retired into Galway Harbour during June's Round Ireland Race, will be in Cork Week's biggest class of 19 boats (from rating 1.000 - 1.074) and, as Afloat previously reported, will compete against the on-form J112e Valentina skippered by Johnny Treanor of Dun Laoghaire that scooped the IRC Zero prizes in both the hotly contested Royal Irish and Royal St. George Regattas on Dublin Bay this month and last and five J109s including defending Cork Week champion John Maybury's Joker II.

A late addition to IRC Two is a third Half Tonner to add extra spice to this 12-boat IRC Class 2 (0.925 - 0.999), which is widely expected to see the other Half Tonners 2 Farr (Boardman, Kelly and O'Leary) and the Dwyer family’s Swuzzlebubble at the top of the fleet.
