Defending champion Ross McDonald of Howth Yacht Club is back in the driving seat of the 2024 1720 European Championships after three straight wins on day two of Volvo Cork Week Regatta.
On the second day of the championships, winds were from 320 degrees and eight to fifteen knots in flat sea conditions.
McDonald, who had a faltering start to the 14-boat championships with an untypical seventh scored in Monday's final race, rebounded on Tuesday morning to secure the lead on nine points after six races sailed and be ten points clear at the top of the scoreboard.
Early leader, Kinsale Yacht Club's Mícheál Ó’Súilleabháin sailing Dutch Gold is now third overall on 20, with Andrew Boyle's Royal Irish No Show up into second place by a single point.
