Encouraging overall Irish result from 420 Worlds
James O’Callaghan, High Performance Director of the ISA reported Wednesday evening (5th August) from Lake Garda, where he was supervising and helping with the loading of equipment following the conclusion of the 420 World Championships which was attended by a large contingent of young Irish sailors.

The best Irish overall result, which was indeed very encouraging, was 11th position in the Womens Gold Fleet posted by Jane Butler and Jenny Andreasson of Dublin in a fleet of 42.

In the Open Gold Fleet Stephen Tiernan and Dermot McMorrough placed 45th.

Open Silver – Cian O’Regan and Mark Boylan, 31st; Timmy O’Laoire and Brian Kelleher, 35th; Scot Flanigan and Luke Malcolm, 42nd; Richie Harrington and Robbie English, 45th; Eoghan Cudmore and Séan Murphy, 52nd. Womens Silver – Diana Kissane and Hazel O’Neill, 24th; Laura and Louise McCarthy, 30th; Emma Geary and Niamh Connolly, 37th; Katie Gambier-Ross and Ali Dix, 39th; Muireann Guilfoyle and Eimear O’Leary, 41st
