Richard and Timothy Goodbody's White Mischief took the overall win in Group A of the Bay Race after a strong start gave them an early advantage in the opening Bay Race of the 2025 Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta by winning on Thursday (10 July).
The Royal Irish J109 emerged as one of the first boats away from a crowded South Bull Mark on the second leg of the inaugural race, finishing the race in a corrected time of 2:17:25.
The Royal Irish yacht was one of three boats from the club. that filled the Cruisers One IRC podium with clubmate and multi-time J109 champion John Maybury in Joker II, taking second place on 2:21:22 corrected.

Colin Byrne's XP33 Bon Exemple was third in the 13-boat turnout on 2:21:51 corr.
The IRC One class were part of group one in the Bay Race, which comprised two groups on different courses with downwind starts, for a combined fleet of nearly 200 boats.

Race Officer Con Murphy postponed racing for 45 minutes because of visibility issues due to a sea fog.
When the action finally got underway, competitors enjoyed bright sunshine with a small chop and ebbing tide on Dublin Bay, with wind at 145 degrees, 10-12 mph.
