When a usually ultra-reliable source of information about the west in general - and Galway Bay in particular - admits that the stylish new hooker St Katherine glimpsed in Rossaveal is a complete mystery to him, then anyone's interest would be piqued.

With beautifully-finished black topsides, highly individual grey spars, varnished Harken blocks, and solar power, this is one extraordinary fusion of ancient and modern. But the current spell of crazy weather means we may have to wait a while before she sails. We look forward to hearing more in due course.
