Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council in association with the National Maritime Institute of Ireland and the RMS Leinster Memorial Committee will mark the 106th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Leinster on Thursday 10 October with a wreath-laying ceremony beside the RMS Leinster anchor on Queen’s Road in Dun Laoghaire, near Carlisle Pier.
Commencing at 9.30am sharp, the ceremony is expected to last around an hour and will be followed by an informal reception with refreshments at the National Maritime Museum of Ireland on Haigh Terrace, beside dlr Lexicon and the Royal Marine Hotel.
All are welcome to come along and join in remembering those passengers and crew who sailed on the last voyage of the ship on that fateful day in 1918.
Those who wish to attend the reception are asked to RSVP to [email protected] by 30th of September 2024.
In addition, historian Philip Lecane will be presenting an hour-long talk titled ‘Remembering the RMS Leinster’ in dlr Lexicon from 1pm. All are welcome.
