Five wins from five races easily gave Shane MacCarthy and Hugh McNally the Flying Fifteen East Coast Championships title at the National Yacht Club on Dublin Bay on Sunday.
The National Champions stormed into the lead on Saturday with three wins and added two more wins on Sunday morning to make a clean sweep of the event.
Racing choppy seas and 15-knot northeasterly winds, the host club pairing were 6.5 points clear of clubmates David Gorman and Chris Doorly on 10.5. Third was Peter and Juliette Kennedy from Strangford Lough Yacht Club on 16. 29 competed.
The championship was the penultimate regatta of the Irish domestic scene with Lough Derg's freshwater fixture in October bringing the curtain down on the Flying Fifteen's 2024 season.
