Duffin Marine has left its long-standing premises on Manderson Street in Belfast after more than a century of family boatbuilding.
Gillian Duffin said on Facebook that “the last of the machinery was removed from our family premises” as the site closed.
Three generations of the family worked there, beginning as a builders’ yard before evolving into Duffin Marine.
Her father, GP14 dinghy builder and master craftsman Alastair Duffin, is 78. She said he is “definitely NOT retiring”.
He has built a smaller shed at home and has begun work on his first boat away from the original yard.
Gillian said locking up the site “for the final time” carried a “heavy heart” and many memories for her father.
She described him as “our absolute hero” and said the family is looking to “the next chapter”.
