The AIB DBSC Water Wag race on Wednesday, August 20th, was the second handicap race of the season, with the fleet divided into eight groups starting at varying intervals from 45 seconds to 5 minutes and 10 seconds after the first gun. This was the second tie for the Buckingham Cup for all divisions.

Race Officer Tadgh Donnelly aboard DBSC’s Corinthian set a 3-round Windward/leeward course for the seasonal record of 30 boats that turned out in a somewhat cooler than recent days 6-8 knot NE’ly breeze.

Catherine and Betty Hilliard sailing no. 16 Penelope led at the first weather mark rounding. They increased their lead by the second and third rounds and led by a considerable margin at the finish.

After racing, the Wag crews retired to the National Yacht Club for après sail food and drinks.
