Talks by maritime historian David Carroll and artist, author, historian and conservationist Peter Pearson for the Dublin Bay Old Gaffers’ Association (DBOGA) are now available online.
The lectures in aid of the RNLI were recorded on YouTube, where previous DBOGA talks can also be found.
In March 2026, Carroll recounted the life of the Irish admiral Henry Cohen Kane.
He considers that the Irishman's contribution to British naval history and maritime tradition has not been properly acknowledged in Irish maritime history.
Carroll is author of a history of the RNLI Dunmore East station, entitled Dauntless Courage.

In the final DBOGA 2025-26 winter season lecture, Peter Pearson explored the impact of the granite geology of North Wicklow and South Dublin on the coastline, marine activities and architecture of the region.
The lecture traced the development of the south side of Dublin bay from its rocky beginnings, the growth of its harbours and industry all the way to its current residential and yachting prominence.
