Monkstown Bay Sailing Club will host its annual Christmas Dinghy Race on St Stephen’s Day, Thursday 26 December 2025.

The event is open to all dinghy classes with a Portsmouth Yardstick under 1370. It carries no entry fee, and is one of the first fixtures to be held under the new Commodore Ewen Barry.

Competitors are invited to enter online via the club website ahead of racing.

The first warning signal is scheduled for 13:25, with the start at 13:30. Local time is listed as 15:40.

A raft race will follow at 15:30, adding a social element to the afternoon’s sailing.

Sailors and supporters are invited to the clubhouse from 16:00 for mulled wine and prizegiving.

A donation box will be available in the clubhouse after racing, with proceeds going to the RNLI.

The event is billed as an open race, with all welcome to attend.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
