Peru’s Tall Ship BAP Unión made her Impact on Dublin Bay on Friday (September 5th), where she anchored in the Bay ahead of her visit to Dublin Port this Saturday.

The Peruvian Naval training vessel will be visiting the Port between September 6th – 9th and will be open for the public to visit at select times. The ship is currently on a European tour aimed at building closer bonds across trade, tourism, investment and cultural connectivity.

On Friday, the four-masted barque flew a huge Peruvian flag. Although the size of this flag is not specified in terms of dimensions like length or width, the ship has a length of 115 meters and a total height of 53.5 meters at its highest mast, which indicates the scale of the sails and flags it carries.

Overnight, the ship was lit up in the colours of Peru, visible right around the Bay.

As Afloat reoprted previously, the BAP Unión will be open for the public to view on-board exhibitions on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday with shuttles going from South Bank Road to her berth on Sunday.

Peru’s BAP Unión Public Visiting Hours in Dublin Port:

  • Sunday, 7 September: 10:00 – 17:00 hrs*
  • Monday, 8 September: 10:00 – 13:00 hrs

*On Sunday, a free shuttle bus service will be available to the public from the bus stop at Sean Moore Road to the ship’s docking location every 20 minutes.

Onsite parking for visitors on Saturday and Monday is very limited, so allow extra time for visits. Access will be via Pigeon House Road through the Ecocem Access Lane.

After Dublin, the ship will head to Vigo, Spain and then return home to Peru. Her European tour began on May 9th with her departure from the Port of Callao, in Lima, Peru, and she has made stops in the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.
