Benthic (seafloor ecology) and intertidal surveys are being undertaken in the Irish Sea off the coast of Wicklow and Dublin for the Codling Wind Park over the next several weeks.
The surveys will involve the use of drop-down Video (DDV) to record footage of the sea floor and the lowering of a Hamon grab.
Survey work is anticipated to run intermittently between this week and the end of September, subject to weather and operational constraints.
The benthic survey will be confined to the foreshore licence area as outlined in Codling Wind Park’s foreshore licence FS007546. The intertidal walkover survey, meanwhile, will be undertaken on the south side of Poolbeg Peninsula.
Surveys will be conducted by the Rós Áine 1 (callsign EI-ZG05) and AMS Panther (callsign 2EHC2). Due to the deployment of equipment from the vessels during the survey, these vessels may be restricted in their ability to manoeuvre when surveying.
Mariners are advised to keep continuous watch on VHF Channel 16 when navigating the area. The vessels will display all appropriate lights and signals.
Further information, including coordinates and maps of the work area and contact details, can be found in Marine Notice No 50 of 2025, attached below.
