The cable layer RS Alegranza arrived at Dun Laoghaire Harbour on Dublin Bay on Tuesday (March 24th) and is berthed at Carlisle Pier.
Afloat sources indicate the vessel’s visit is for a crew change.
It is the second specialist offshore vessel to call at the harbour this month, following the arrival of the research vessel Fugro Voyager on March 11.
The Portuguese-flagged vessel, operated by Spain’s Suardiaz Energy, is designed for subsea cable installation, maintenance and repair.
Originally built in China in 2006 as an offshore supply vessel, she has since been converted for cable operations.
A recent refit added cable repair systems, geotechnical drilling equipment and inspection tools, expanding her role in offshore wind and subsea infrastructure projects.
The 80.5-metre vessel is equipped with dynamic positioning (DP2) for precise positioning and can accommodate up to 60 personnel.
Her deck capacity allows for the deployment of remotely operated vehicles used in seabed inspection and survey work.
According to Baird Maritime, RS Alegranza is currently operating in the North Sea under charter, supporting offshore wind development and subsea maintenance operations.
