#Fishing - The fisherman who died after an incident on a trawler in Killybegs last night (Monday 24 August) has been named as James Joyce of Inis Mór in the Aran Islands.
The Connacht Tribune reports that the 27-year-old from Kilronan died after a fall while cleaning stagnant water from the refrigeration tanks of the Co Galway-registered fishing vessel Oilean an Oir.
A 46-year-old colleague from the Philippines who went to Joyce's aid was hospitalised after he was overcome by toxic fumes and is reportedly in critical condition.
The Marine Casualty Investigation Board has launched an inquiry into the incident, alongside a separate investigation by the Health and Safety Authority.
