London International Shipping Week (15-19 Sept) is delighted that the UK’s youngest sitting Member of Parliament, Keir Mather MP, has been promoted to Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Transport.

The Oxford University-educated MP for Selby in Yorkshire will make his LISW debut at the LISW25 Headline Conference. This is to take place next Wednesday (17 September) at the London headquarters of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) on Albert Embankment.

The new minister will give his maiden speech during the opening session, which will be introduced by John Hulmes, Chair of the LISW25 Steering Group and will feature Conference Chair, Michael Parker of the LISW25 Board of Advisors and Chairman, Global Shipping, Logistics & Offshore at Citigroup, Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the IMO, and General Sir Gwyn Jenkins, First Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Staff.

The LISW25 Headline Conference is sponsored by Tsakos Energy Transportation (TEN) and will be followed by a delegate-only Rooftop Reception sponsored by HM Government of Gibraltar and Gibraltar Maritime Services.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
