The annual Boxing Day swim organised by Ballyholme Yacht Club in aid of Bangor RNLI was a huge success this year, with an amazing £1,400 collected.
It was a beautiful crisp morning in Northern Ireland with clear blue skies and temperatures promising to reach 8C. Many brave, cheerful souls turned up to swim in Belfast Lough, some swimmers even completing the 600-meter swim around the full course.
Rear Commodore Barbara Polly was delighted with the number of swimmers who participated, raising some 40 per cent more than 2024’s event.
The morning was very well organised, with hot drinks offered to all swimmers in the Jubilee Room afterwards.
Bangor RNLI’s B class lifeboat Ruby Robinson was in attendance, operated by James Gillespie, Kyle Marshall, Ewan Scott and Lee Mercer. Shore crew were Davey Eccles, Tommy Burns, Kevin Byres, Bryan Lawther and Dennis Thurley.
Bangor RNLI would like to say a huge thank you to all concerned for making this event a great success.
