Two crew members from Cahore Inshore Rescue Service will later this month spend 24 hours immersed in the waters of Cahore to raise funds for a new lifeboat.
Tom O’Connor and Conor Burke will suit up in their offshore rescue gear for the challenge on Friday 22 August, with the aim of raising at least €35,000 for a new rescue boat to ensure the Cahore Inshore Rescue Service continues to respond to emergencies along the coastline from Roney Point to Curracloe.
Cahore Inshore Rescue Service is a fully volunteer-run lifeboat and lifeguard organisation, dedicated to saving lives along the South East Coast of Ireland since its founding in 1995. The service receives only a small grant allocation from the government — so every rescue, every patrol and every life saved is thanks to the generosity of the public.
The service’s current rescue boat, while still serving it well after 16 years, is nearing the end of operational life. This vessel is at the heart of the services emergency response, saving lives and supporting local events.
All donations via the service’s GoFundMe page will directly support the purchase of a new rescue boat, allowing it to continue providing this vital service to everyone who swims, sails, surfs or simply enjoys the sea.
