On the eve of race six in a series of seven, the organisers of the much-anticipated AIB DBSC Turkey Shoot, set for Sunday, December 8th, have confirmed the cancellation of the Royal Irish Yacht Club-hosted race due to Storm Darragh.
Event coordinator Fintan Cairns stated that after reviewing multiple forecasts, it was determined that both wind and sea state would not improve adequately in time for safe racing. "Having considered a lot of different forecasts, we do not think that the wind, sea state or weight of gusts will have dropped enough in time for us to race so regrettably, racing is cancelled", he told Afloat.
Overall, after four sailed (race four was abandoned due to Storm Bert) and no discard yet applied, the Beneteau 31.7 Camira tops the scoreboard from the J80 Derry Girls, with the Sunfast 37, Brizo lying third. Full results here
Also cancelled is Sunday afternoon's DMYC dinghy frostbite series in the harbour as Afloat reports here.
