Racing on the final day of the SB20 National Championships 2025 has been cancelled due to forecasted severe winds off Dun Laoghaire.
Michael O’Connor’s TED successfully defended his national title after seven races were sailed over two days.
Crews faced 20+ knots throughout, with gusts reaching 34 knots in race four on Saturday. Forecasts showed 30+ knots and 40-knot gusts for Sunday, leading organisers to call off further racing.
“The swing to the south-east made it an easier decision,” a race committee spokesperson said. “The committee boat and mark layers would also have struggled.”
O’Connor, with Davy Taylor and Ben O’Donoghue, topped the standings on six points after discards.
Tadgh Donnelly’s Leviathan finished second on 19 points, with Ger Dempsey’s venuesworld.com third on 22.
Results reflected a steady drop in starters as the breeze built. By race seven, retirements and non-starters had thinned the fleet.

Organisers estimated that only eight of the 14 entries might have launched had Sunday’s schedule gone ahead.
The Royal Irish Yacht Club hosted the cut-short championship, with results remaining provisional pending confirmation.
