Neither Paul O'Higgins's JPK 10.80 Rockabill VI or Chris Power-Smith's J122 Aurelia were on the DBSC race track last night as both will race Round Ireland on Saturday.
Still, Rockabill VI remains four points clear at the top of the Dublin Bay Sailing Club AIB Thursday Summer Series IRC Zero division leaderboard.
Thursday's Dublin Bay race, in a warm light to medium westerly wind was won by the National Yacht Club's John Treanor in the J112e Valentia in a corrected time of one hour 17 minutes and 48 seconds, beating second overall Royal Irish Sean Lemass's First 40, Prima Forte by near;y three minutes.
In third place was RIYC's Tim Kane's Extreme 37, Wow, finishing on 1:23:15 corrected. Five competed.
In an 11-boat turnout – the best of the season so far – Richard and Timothy Goodbody took victory in IRC One by over two minutes on corrected time. The RIYC J109 crew beat clubmate Colin Byrne, in the XP33, Bon Exemple, who has a seven-point lead after nine races sailed. Third was Barry Cunnigham's J109 Chimaera, also from the RIYC.
In another fine turnout, Brendan Foley's First 8 Allig8R was the winner from IRC Two class regular J97 Lindsay Casey both from the Royal St. George Yacht Club. Third was Damien Corcoran's Scenario in the nine boat fleet.
In the DBSC one-design fleets, Beneteau 31.7 overall leader Chris Johnston earned his fifth win from seven sailed, beating Michael and Bernie Bryson's Bluefin Two. Michael Blaney's After You... was third.
In a 11-boat turnout, Ken Dumpleton's Rodriquez won the Flying Fifteen race from Keith Poole. Third was Tom Murphy's, Flagella. Several of the DBSC fleet are competing at the UK British Nationals on Strangford Lough this week where Shane MacCarthy lies fourth.
