The Mall Buoy in Drogheda has been revitalised through a community collaboration. This project, led by Drogheda Port Company in partnership with SOSAD (Save Our Sons and Daughters), focuses on mental health awareness.
For years, Drogheda Port Company has joined forces with local groups to repaint the iconic buoy. This year's initiative highlights the importance of mental health services provided by SOSAD.
Local art teacher Sarah McAlevey and her Transition Year students from St. Oliver's Community College painted the buoy. The paint was generously sponsored by Murtaghs of Drogheda.
"This project is more than a fresh coat of paint," said Nessa Lally from Drogheda Port Company. "It highlights the connection between the port and the community."
Carmel Murphy of SOSAD remarked, "This buoy serves as a reminder that mental health support is available. We are grateful to use it as a canvas."
SOSAD provides free mental health support across Ireland. Their Freephone number, 1800 901 909, is available 24/7 for those in crisis.
